Visible Mending Cafe with Anthea Renshaw
Every other Wednesday, with the next session being held on 22nd January | 10am - 12pm | £5
Sew-on-and-Sew-Forth!
Visible mending is a growing community addressing the environmental impact of the textile industry in a way that simultaneously encompasses communal mindful practice, creativity, and mending in a wholly holistic way.
“Visible mending takes traditional techniques such as patching, darning and sashiko to repair clothing in an intentionally visible and creative way”1. With these techniques we can have another way to express ourselves creatively. The ability to express ourselves gives us agency. With agency we can feel in control to make positive choices.
With a practical skill, enjoyed in-group and individually, we can feed into the change towards a sustainable world. And the gentle, slow movement, the mindful space it gives us, allows for pause in our fast noisy lives.

Are you interested in training to be a professional massage therapist and want to see if it’s the right path for you?
During the workshop you will learn the basics of holistic massage, including:
technique
anatomy
posture
listening skills
tips for how to massage without straining your body.
We’ll also cover how to work with common aches including back and shoulder pain and how to massage at home without a massage couch. It also includes a few self-care tips for you.
“The course went way beyond my expectations. One of the best weekends I’ve had in ages and came out feeling energised, enriched and with a deepened passion for all the benefits of massage.” — Kathryn A, Whitchurch, Shropshire
Underpinning it all is a holistic, intuitive approach to massage that includes the whole person and meets the other as they are on that day. It’s not about learning a routine, but about having tools in your kit that you can use to give an individual massage.
The course is highly practical and you’ll get plenty of chance to give and receive massage.
**If you book with a partner or friend you can work together. If you book alone be aware that you will need to practise with others in the group and you can work in whatever way whatever feels comfortable for you.**
Course Tutor - Jenny Hampton.
Jenny has been a practising massage therapist for 13 years. She teaches a Level 4 Holistic Massage Diploma from her training school in Whitchurch. Jenny loves to see others discover their unique style in massage and find a passion for working with the body.
She says: "I love to share with others what I’ve learnt about how to help support people to let go of built up stress and tension, in a way that is kind on their body too. Finding ways to massage that can be sustained over a career is all important, so you can maintain that love and passion for what you do."

Do you feel like there must be another way, one that doesn’t leave you feeling defeated or reliant on sheer willpower?
There is.
